The Fender Bassman amp of the 1950s evolved as an answer to the amplification of a great new invention: the Fender Precision Bass®.
By the 60s and 70s, the original Bassman 4x10 tube amp gained great popularity among rock, country and blues guitarists as a great-sounding, reliable and easy-to-use amp. Some British amp designers of the time even copied its circuitry for use in their most popular designs. In the 1990s, Fender introduced an affordable reissue of the now collectible 59 Bassman amp by acclaimed request.
